Course Objectives
Following completion of this activity, you will be able to:
  • Describe morphologic subtypes of mast cells encountered in systemic mastocytosis.  

  • List the diagnostic criteria for systemic mastocytosis as published by the World Health Organization (2022) and the International Consensus Classification (2022).

  • Apply definitions of B-findings (“burden of disease”) and C-findings (“cytoreduction-required”) to classify systemic mastocytosis.

  • Outline a work-up for systemic mastocytosis using flow cytometry and molecular diagnostic methods.
