Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
  • recognize different sources of glandular cells in Papanicolaou-stained samples; 

  • identify pitfalls of glandular lesions in cervical cytology; 

  • appreciate cytomorphologic features of invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) in conventional smear vs Papanicolaou-stained liquid-based cytology sample; 

  • differentiate other common as well as uncommon abnormalities in cervical cytology samples that can mimic ILC; and 

  • apply immunochemical markers to differentiate cervical from extracervical lesions such as ILC.
