Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
  • explain how clinical and laboratory findings fulfill criteria for clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP);

  • describe the most common genetic mutations identified in patients with CHIP;

  • apply the diagnostic criteria to correctly identify precursor entities such as idiopathic cytopenia of undetermined significance, idiopathic dysplasia of unknown significance, CHIP, and clonal cytopenia of undetermined significance; and

  • discuss the clinical implications of recognizing these precursor conditions.
