  • identify the clinical features of Shwachman-Diamond syndrome (SDS); 

  • describe the pathogenesis of SDS; 

  • recognize the difficulties in making the diagnosis of low-grade myelodysplastic neoplasm in SDS; and 

  • explain the treatment of patients with SDS, including the importance of surveillance.
