Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
  • understand the morphologic, immunophenotypic, and genetic features of cyclin D1–positive diffuse large B cell lymphoma; 

  • identify the various morphological variants of mantle cell lymphoma, including blastoid, pleomorphic, small cell, marginal zone–like, and leukemic non-nodal mantle cell lymphoma (nnMCL); 

  • recognize the key immunophenotypic and genetic characteristics associated with mantle cell lymphoma; 

  • distinguish between blastoid/pleomorphic variants of mantle cell lymphoma and cyclin D1–positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in the differential diagnosis; and 

  • understand the differential diagnosis of CD5-positive small B-cell lymphomas, with emphasis on distinguishing chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, CD5-positive marginal zone lymphoma, and CD5-positive lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma.
