Course Description

The Scientific Keynote Address of the 2022 Annual Meeting is presented by Edith Mitchell, MD, MACP, FCPP, FRCS from Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Mitchell heads the effort in gastrointestinal malignancies and also serves as the Director of Diversity for the department. She serves as the leader of the Jefferson Cancer Network's GI Cancer Working Group, a group which allows physicians throughout the cancer network the opportunity to participate in program-initiated clinical and translation science efforts.

Topics covered include:  

  • Decline in cancer mortality rates  
  • Historical events that impacted cancer outcomes  
  • Impact of Medicare and cancer disparities  
  • Disparities in breast cancer, colorectal cancer and multiple myeloma  
  • Future direction in cancer research

The activity offers 1.0 CME/CMLE credit.
