Course Description

This 2021 Annual Meeting session is presented by Dana Powell Baker, MBA, MS, MLS(ASCP)CM from University of Kansas Medical Center and Carla L. Ellis, MD, MS, FASCP from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. Pathologists and laboratory professionals are logical, meticulous, evidence-focused, and dedicated to consistently accurate results. So how do we achieve wellness and sustain our health and effectiveness when life is inconsistent, prone to interruptions (natural disasters, pandemics, political upheaval), and permeated by dislocations in our workplace and our lives outside of work? The speakers in this course will present strategies to help with individual approaches to events that are beyond our control.

Topics covered include:  

  • Eight dimensions of wellness 
  • Work-life balance and work-life integration 
  • Physical, social and emotional benefits of striving towards personal wellness 
  • Relationship between performance and stress level 
  • Four causes of stress injuries 
  • Seven “Cs” of stress first aid 

The activity offers 0.75 CME/CMLE credit.

To complete the activity and receive credit, the participant must view the recording. CME certificates will be provided online.
