The first 30 minutes of this education session will introduce the systematic counting methodology of eosinophils for the histopathological diagnosis of EGIDs: where to count, what to count and how to count; the proposed pathologic cutoffs of eosinophils/high power field; international consensus recommendations for EGID nomenclature, the clinicopathologic features of eosinophilic esophagitis, and the differential diagnosis.
The second 30 minutes of this education session will be focused on non-EoE EGIDs: a comprehensive overview of epidemiology, clinical presentation, pathogenesis, clinicopathologic diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment strategies; update the international guidelines on non-EoE EGIDs; and emphasize the team approach to EGIDs diagnosis - a final diagnosis requires careful pathological assessment, clinical correlation and exclusion of differential diagnosis.
