DMT113-25 - CME/CMLE - Rodger C. Haggit Gastrointestinal Pathology Society (GIPS) Companion Society Session: Difficult Differentials: Dealing with Gastritis and Colitis
Course Description
Most pathologists are familiar with the chronic changes that exemplify inflammatory bowel disease, and they are also skilled at recognizing Helicobacter pylori gastritis. However, both gastritis and colitis have wide differential diagnoses that must be navigated when the most common answer does not appear to be the correct one.

This education session will make learners aware of the broad spectrum of causes of gastritis and colitis, including rare conditions (e.g. lymphocytic gastritis, autoimmune enteritis, and colitis caused by immunodeficiencies), in addition to particular clues in the patient history and microscopic injury pattern that allow the differential to be narrowed to a few potential choices (or, if fortunate, a single option).

This session offers 1.0 CME/CMLE credit.
