The evaluation of ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors often poses a challenge due their heterogeneity, broad range of appearances, and many mimics. There is significant morphological overlap between the various tumor types, and definitive diagnosis remains a difficulty in a considerable number of cases with dissent among experts in gynecologic pathology. In recent years, various advances, particularly the integration of molecular and immunohistochemical findings, have significantly evolved our understanding and diagnostic paradigms. The implementation and interpretation of these advancements in clinical practice can be confusing and not easily recognized by general pathologists and pathologists-in-training, who are faced with the overwhelming task of remaining up to date in the changes occurring in all organ systems. The aim of this education session is to concisely discuss these changes, utilizing real-life cases as examples, highlighting the features of the various tumors with emphasis on morphologic findings and prognostically relevant details. The education session will provide the participants with practical tools to be applied in their daily practice, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care.
