DMT143-24 - CME/CMLE - From DNA to Diagnosis: The Practical Guide to Integrating Genomic and Transcriptomic Testing into Your Clinical Laboratory with Ease!
Course Description

The field of clinical pathology is broad and expanding rapidly. New tests looking at the genetic makeup or the proteins that are produced in response to diseases or cancers are becoming increasingly critical to incorporate in clinical decision support. Diagnostics tests that investigate changes in the DNA, RNA, and proteins in response to disease or treatment can be integrated into routine laboratory testing and are critical to improving patient outcomes and monitoring disease course.

In this education session, the faculty will be discussing the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic considerations of introducing a new next generation sequencing-based assay into a clinical laboratory. The faculty will also review the basics of genomics (DNA sequencing) and transcriptomics (RNA sequencing) as well as their application to routine diagnostic testing.

This will be an interactive session, including review of case studies with sufficient time for Q&A. The audience will be encouraged to ask questions during this session. The information discussed is applicable to laboratory professionals, pathologists, students, laboratory administration, and anyone who has an interest in understanding more about precision medicine.
