DMT149-25 - CME/CMLE - Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Companion Society Session: Too Much of a Good Thing? Navigating the Complexities of Molecular Microbiology Results
Course Description
As molecular diagnostics become central to infectious disease testing, interpreting their results has grown increasingly complex. This session will delve into the practical challenges of interpreting data from common molecular approaches for infectious diseases diagnosis such as multiplex panels, quantitative PCR, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms. We will discuss the advantages but also, explore common pitfalls that can lead to misinterpretation or clinical uncertainty. Examples of relevant case studies will illustrate beneficial clinical utility of such molecular assays and challenges in real-world scenarios. Attendees will gain strategies for communicating these nuances effectively with clinical teams to ensure accurate, meaningful diagnostic use.

This session offers 1.0 CME/CMLE credit.
