Activity Overview 

The course is designed to discuss the current practices, gaps, and best practices for communication of urgent and significant/unexpected diagnoses in anatomic pathology. 

The goals of the course are to:  

  • Improve communication between pathologists and treating physicians to reduce delayed notifications, missed diagnoses, and related diagnostic errors.  
  • Promote the role of pathologists and laboratory professionals in advancing diagnostic excellence along the diagnosis-to-treatment trajectory.

  • Learners will understand the gaps and opportunities to improve the communication of urgent and significant/unexpected diagnoses in anatomic pathology.  
  • Learners will be able to take best practices and apply those to their current practice to improve processes for communication and documentation of communication.
