Course Objectives
Following completion of this activity, you will be able to:
  • Situate current efforts to integrate AI intro the practice of pathology in an historical context stretching back as far as the 1950s; 

  • Understand at a high level how large language models can be used for mundane and higher order tasks in laboratory practice and diagnostic medicine, as well as what potential short comings these models can have in these contexts; 

  • Describe legal and ethical issues arising from the practice of integrating AI into practice, as well as the responsibility for pathologists to independently advise on guidelines address these and other topics.
