Laboratory medicine is undergoing a generational transformation. Digital pathology, augmented intelligence, remote learning platforms, and evolving learner expectations have fundamentally changed how we teach, assess, and connect. Yet many educational models in laboratory medicine still rely on legacy structures that were built for a different era.
This session explores how laboratory educators and leaders can intentionally redesign education to foster true competency, spark creativity, and restore meaningful human connection in an increasingly digital world. This session will highlight innovative approaches that blend technology (web based platforms, social media, etc.) with purpose. Participants will learn how to move beyond content delivery toward competency-driven, learner-centered ecosystems that emphasize belonging, mentorship, and professional identity formation.
Rather than positioning technology as a replacement for educators, this session reframes digital tools as amplifiers of excellent teaching, equity, and engagement. Attendees will leave with practical strategies they can adapt immediately within their own laboratories, training programs, and institutions.
