LAM1606 - CME/CMLE - Conflict Prevention & Resolution
Course Description

Handling conflict effectively can result in increased organizational and personal effectiveness, which is why it’s important to build skills in managing conflict situations. The purpose of this course is to help participants understand the different views of conflict and how it can be used constructively in the workplace. By outlining causes and consequences of unresolved conflict, participants will be better able to recognize precursors of conflict. This will create insights into how they can be more aware of where conflict is present in their organization and within their own personal and professional lives. This course will discuss different methods on how to resolve different types of conflict as well as ways to help prevent conflict altogether.

Participants will take the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode assessment to better understand their behavior when dealing with conflict. Each conflict style will be discussed in detail, while highlighting situations where it is most effective to use each mode. Participants will be able to apply their understanding of their own conflict mode and gain insight into what their strengths are in navigating conflict and create opportunities for them to improve in certain areas. The course also presents several conflict models that outline the different ways to approach conflict. Through learning about the many different aspects of conflict, participants will be equipped with the tools to create value from resolving conflict and build essential leadership skills.
