Course Objectives
Following completion of this activity, you will be able to:
  • describe the morphologic characteristics of the microgranular variant of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL):
  • identify the immunophenotype of microgranular acute promyelocytic leukemia and compare with hypergranular APL;
  • identify the definitive tests for diagnosing APL with PML::RARA; and
  • discuss the importance of the rapid diagnosis of APL to initiate treatment.
