  • describe the clinical presentation of a patient with splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL);

  • describe the spectrum of morphologic features of SMZL cells seen in peripheral blood and bone marrow smears;

  • discuss the immunophenotype of SMZL;

  • discuss the differential diagnosis of SMZL; and

  • discuss the prognosis of patients with SMZL.
