Course Objectives
Following completion of this activity, you will be able to:

  • identify the serological markers that should be used for screening, diagnosis and monitoring Hepatitis B virus infection; 

  • discuss and understand the importance of the new recommendations for the serologic “triple panel” laboratory testing for HBV; 

  • recognize patients at risk of occult HBV infection; and 

  • discuss HBV reactivation and why it is a serious risk for morbidity and mortality in immunosuppressed persons.
