Course Objectives
Following completion of this activity, you will be able to:

  • list the various weak-D phenotypes and their genotypic origins; 

  • evaluate how to manage weak-D phenotypes with regard to transfusion practices; 

  • identify situations in which weak-D genotyping would be appropriate, effective test utilization; 

  • explain how weak-D phenotypes affect blood bank considerations in obstetric patients; and 

  • convey how weak-D testing applies to blood donors as well as recipients
