Course Objectives
Following completion of this activity, you will be able to:

  • recognize clinical principles and pathologic considerations when obtaining a liver biopsy; 

  • understand the 3-dimensional nature of tissues and how this relates to 2-dimensional slide evaluation; 

  • explain how deeper levels aid in pathologic diagnosis, especially for patchy diseases; and 

  • recognize the significance of hepatic granulomas and their potential etiologies.
