Course Objectives
Following completion of this activity, you will be able to:
  • define an at-risk blood or body fluid exposure;  

  • discuss the most common bloodborne viruses that may be transmitted through such an exposure; 

  • identify the laboratory tests that are most useful to determine whether an exposed individual is at risk for infection from a bloodborne virus; and  

  • discuss the indications for and use of prophylaxis based on results of the laboratory tests.
