Course Objectives
Following completion of this activity, you will be able to:
  • identify preferred draw sites for blood collection; 

  • readily assess the patient’s clinical presentation to avoid unacceptable draw sites;  

  • identify best alternative draw sites when preferred sites are compromised or unavailable; and  

  • describe effects on patient outcome when the appropriate draw site is not initially utilized.
