Course Objectives
Following completion of this activity, you will be able to:
  • describe the transmission modes of Babesia, including strategies for reducing the risk of exposure;  

  • describe the clinical manifestations of Babesia infection, including common symptoms, at-risk populations, and potential complications; and 

  • discuss the various laboratory methods used for the diagnosis of Babesia infections, including blood smears and molecular testing; and  

  • identify regions of the United States that are endemic for Babesia.
