Course Description

Juniper Fedor (he/him) is a certified Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) and member of the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants. He is the chair of the DEI Subcommittee and an active participant of the Forensics Task Force and Autopsy Special Interest Group. Juniper currently works as a PA in the Dekalb County Medical Examiner’s Office in Atlanta, Georgia, as the Supervising PA, and is an advocate for the novel use of Pathologists’ Assistants in medical examiner and coroner (ME/C) offices. Juniper also dedicates his free time to the advocacy of gender diverse individuals in healthcare and deathcare spaces. He is known for his work in the forensics world on the documentation and reporting of gender diverse individuals in medicolegal death investigation.

This presentation is designed to highlight and summarize the role and purpose of the PA in ME/C offices, and discuss the advantages and trajectory of the growing field. As a PA in a new and thriving field, innovation is important, and this presentation will be sharing Juniper’s work in gender diversity advocacy in the field of forensics and healthcare, providing the audience with key terminology, definitions, and discussion points to be able to apply this knowledge to their own field in the laboratory setting.
