PTA107-25 - CME/CMLE - Path to Atlanta Pre-Recorded Session: College of American Pathologists (CAP) Companion Society Session: What’s New, What to Do: Updated Evidence-Based Guideline for HER2 Testing and Clinical Decision Making in Gastroesophageal Adenocarcinoma
Course Description

In 2016, the American Society for Clinical Oncology, American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the College of American Pathologists published an evidence-based guideline on HER2 testing in gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma (GEA). Since then, both pathology testing practices and treatment strategies have continued to evolve. A forthcoming update revisits the original recommendations in the context of current evidence and clinical application. While most of the original recommendations remain relevant, the updated guideline includes four new or updated recommendations and reinforces six existing recommendations as good practice statements to reflect current evidence and practice clarity. This session will focus on helping participants understand which updates have been made, why certain recommendations were reinforced, and how the clarified guidance supports reliable, high-quality HER2 testing and interpretation in laboratories and clinical care.
