Quality management is vital to cytopathology, particularly given the heavily manual workflows and expanding ancillary testing requirements inherent to the cytopathology laboratory. This lecture will examine critical areas in quality assurance and improvement in the cytopathology laboratory including an exploration of quality metrics and how quality data can be used for targeted laboratory improvement.
